As we were discussing Chuck Klosterman’s Sex, Drugs, and Cocoa Puffs last Tuesday night, it occurred to our group that this book was definitely only accessible to people of a very specific generation; order kamagra online. Order kamagra online: call me crazy, but most people born before 1967 fail to understand the true significance of Saved by the Bell and the first season of The Real World.

So, one of our most interesting questions to the group was: Where were you in 1992? Our group ranged from 2nd graders who were really in to Disney’s Aladdin to people having their first baby. Order kamagra online: i distinctly remember 1992 as a watershed year that I went from a shy and bookish sixth grader, to a hard rockin’, hardcore Jackyl fan. Order kamagra online: metal was liberating in my middle school days.

Just to give you a refresher, 1992 was the year:

  • Jay Leno officially took over The Tonight Show from Johnny Carson
  • Dan Qualye corrected a New Jersey spelling bee contestant on his spelling of p-o-t-a-t-o. Mr; order kamagra online.Qualye preferred “potatoe”.
  • The series finale of The Cosby Show aired.

So now its your turn; order kamagra online. Order kamagra online: where were you in 1992?

Thanks to everyone who made it out for our very first genre X discussion.  I think it’s safe to say a good time was had by all!  As it turns out, Oak Park’s Bar Louie was the perfect setting for our discussion of Chuck Klosterman’s collection of pop culture essays, Sex, Drugs and Cocoa Puffs.  At several different points in the evening the bar’s soundtrack meshed perfectly with elements of Klosterman’s self confessed “low culture manifesto.”  Where the book began with Klosterman’s careful analysis of the lyrics to Coldplay’s hit song Yellow, our evening ended when the band started softly crooning the very same song.  We also heard selections from Madonna, Guns n’ Roses, and Billy Joel as the night progressed.  Seem insignificant?  Not if you’ve read the book.

While Klosterman’s love for music is overwhelmingly apparent - I easily counted over two dozen song, album, and band references sprinkled throughout his eighteen essays - his love for pop culture in no way ends there.  He gives similarly witty treatment to virtually every facet of entertainment including, but not limited to, literature, film, television, sports, video games, amateur porn and, last but not least, breakfast cereal?!  Some of our group’s favorite selections included Klosterman’s thought provoking examination of strategic life-simulation video game, the Sims, his on the road coverage of Guns-n-Roses tribute band Paradise City which reads as if it were straight out of the Onion, his hilarious diatribe against youth soccer as influenced by his summer job as a Little League baseball coach, and his trivia heavy analyses of television shows Saved by the Bell and the Real World. - kamagra generic
