Mandy
Mandy is the Manager of the Adult and Teen Services department at the Oak Park Public Library.She’s what some might call a “lightweight reader”, meaning she hates dysfunction and depressing situations in books almost as much as she hates facing such things in real life.With such reading preferences she tends to favor books that contain smatterings of magical realism like The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho or scifi/fantasy elements like The Time Traveler’s Wife by Audrey Niffenegger; claritin allergies.That being said, it only makes sense that she is also terribly passionate about anything involving Alice in Wonderland.Mandy is quite an active crafter/artist and spends much of her spare time picking up new DIY skills and displaying her wares at craft fairs; claritin allergies.Email Mandy at genre-x@oppl.org.
Jennifer
Jennifer has been putting in time at the Oak Park Public Library for eight years; claritin allergies. Claritin allergies: she’s currently a member of the trusty Adult and Teen Services staff.Jennifer’s a big fan of books, particularly Perfume by Patrick Suskind and Wind-Up Bird Chronicle by Haruki Murakami; claritin allergies.She’s not even afraid to judge a book by it’s cover because she’s done this more than once and it’s worked out; claritin allergies.When she’s not reading *awesome* books she’s either baking cupcakes or eating cupcakes.She also enjoys things like biking and thrifting - claritin allergies.She dreams about finding more time to sew because once upon a time she was quite good at it.Love to bike, bake, sew and read? Monica
Monica is the Oak Park Public Library’s Teen Librarian, but she likes grown up books too.She tends to read a lot of nonfiction and graphic novels claritin allergies, but she loves her fair share of dysfunctional fiction, especially The Tin Drum by Gunther Grass and her all-time favorite, Mrs.Dalloway by Virginia Woolf; claritin allergies. She is also pretty fanatical about popular film, and loves reading design blogs and dreaming about the spread in Domino she hopes to have one day; claritin allergies. About genre X
genre X is a twenties and thirties book discussion group facilitated by the Oak Park Public Library - claritin allergies.The group meets every fourth Tuesday at 8:00 pm at “The Snug”, a small room inside Molly Malone’s in Forest Park.
The genre X blog is dedicated to providing supplementary information for the book group as well as other content that will hopefully appeal to readers everywhere in their twenties and thirties.
