Viagra Online Pharmacy

Viagra online pharmacy: like most any child of the 80’s, I must admit I do get really excited when I see that say the cast of Goonies was recently reunited or that Cameron Frye’s home from Ferris Bueller’s Day Off is up for sale. I will watch I Love the 80’s whenever its on usually, even though I’ve seen all of the episodes already - viagra online pharmacy. Viagra online pharmacy: there is no end to the enjoyment I continue to derive from reminiscing over the pop culture of my childhood.

So of course I was also excited to read about what the cast of Footloose is doing now.I was not so excited to find out there are plans to remake this 80’s favorite, possibly with Hayden Panettiere of Heroes fame, in the female lead; viagra online pharmacy.Unfortunately it seems Hollywood has decided that its time to recreate practically every eighties film that still holds a nostalgic flame, cult classic status or was even remotely successful the first time around - viagra online pharmacy. We have already seen the beginnings of this trend with the recent remake of Friday the 13th and it continues later on this year with the ressurection of Fame.Oh how I wish it ended there; viagra online pharmacy. But sadly the list goes on and on.

With all of the great new talent that has emerged out of Hollywood over the last 5-10 years, do we really need to revisit Arthur, the alcoholic womanizer, with this guy? Or even crazier yet, are audiences seriously begging to peer inside a 21st century Videodrome? If only there were some standards for remakes that everyone could agree upon; viagra online pharmacy. It would make my future rounds of “Remember when…” far less painful.

One of us! One of Us! One of Us!

Reading Katherine Dunn’s Geek Love for this month’s Genre X has gotten me thinking about the circus sideshows of the early 20th century. And that gets me thinking about Tod Browning’s cult classic buy cialis, Freaks.

If you’ve never seen Freaks, you should run right out and add it to your Netflix queue (or your library hold list) right away. Filmed in 1932 with actual circus perfomers, Freaks is the story of a group of sideshow performers who take revenge on some of the “normal” performers after years of abuse; buy cialis. The original film shocked audiences and censors, and its original 90 minutes was cut down to just over an hour - buy cialis. The original footage is now considered lost.

Audiences were initially so uncomfortable with the deformity of the main players that the film was often banned, most notably in the UK where is was banned from viewing for 30 years - buy cialis. Freaks resurfaced as a cult hit in the 1960s and 70s, where it was frequently shown at Midnight Movie screenings. Buy cialis: in 1994, the National Film Registry chose Freaks to be selected for preservation based on its cultural and historical significance.

If you’re interested in more film and television looks at circus life, you might also try:

Carnivale: the short lived HBO series about a traveling carnival during the Dust Bowl era.

The Elephant Man: the David Lynch directed film about a severely disfigured man who earns his living as a sideshow performer until a surgeon (Anthony Hopkins) attempts to give him a new life.

La Strada: Fellini’s early masterpiece features a girl who is sold to a traveling strongman by her destitute mother.

Something Wicked This Way Comes: Even though this film adaptation pales in comparison to the Bradbury book of the same name, I couldn’t leave the list without this story of a sinister traveling carnival and the town librarian forced to save the day.

So on to this year in Oscar bait; cialis viagra. Here are some of the choicest choices:

We talk a lot about age and generation here at genre X, but we don’t often stretch outside of our 20s and 30s demographic. Our most recent book selection how to buy cialis, The History of Love by Nicole Krauss certainly explores the relationship between the young and old, and allows us to reflect on our own personal and future histories. How to buy cialis: so today, here’s a short film from directors Lenka Clayton and James Price that gives us a little reminder that getting older is natural and (sometimes) funny.

Since we are all pretty much media junkies here at genre X, the idea of putting together our own individual 2007 Top Picks lists filled us with a collective joy - viagra quick.I’m sure each of us could have easily come up with more extensive lists viagra quick, but for the sake of you, our readers, we have limited it to just our top ten.So without further ado, here are my favorites from the past year (in no particular order)…

blog1.jpgblog.jpg          blog3.jpg

  • Planet Earth - I never would’ve thought I would be so enamored of a Discovery Channel series, but Planet Earth is truly amazing; viagra quick. Not only is it incredibly educational and beautifully filmed, it instills in its viewers a true appreciation of this planet we call home.
  • Tin Man -This Sci-Fi channel reworking of Baum’s classic tale was wildly popular with viewers when it first aired in December 2007 - viagra quick.Tin Man is a captivating modernization of the land of Oz which pays homage to the original tale in a very honorable fashion. Viagra quick: for all of you who do not get the Sci-Fi channel, the DVD of this mini-series is scheduled to be released in March.
  • Twin Peaks : Definitive Gold Box Edition - All I have to say is its about time! I have no idea why it took over 15 years to offer this cult classic in its entirety on DVD, I’m just glad that its finally happened.I would be one happy camper if only they had thrown in the show’s prequel movie Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me, but I guess I can’t be picky.

  • Noisettes / What’s the Time Mr - viagra quick.Wolf? - Noisettes are a trio out of the UK that offer up some refreshingly solid rock; viagra quick.Shingai Shoniwa’s voice is like an amazing Karen O, Chrissie Hynde, Grace Slick hybrid and their songs are a bluesy punk rock bag of goodness.
  • Pink Martini / Hey, Eugene! - I’m a giant fan of everything Pink Martini puts out, but this album is actually their strongest to date in my opinion - viagra quick. Viagra quick: its hard to truly encapsulate Pink Martini in a sentence or two, so I’ll just say if you are into classical or world music, lounge singers, musicals, or jazz then you need to check them out.
  • The Rosebuds / Night of the Furies - Night of the Furies was in heavy rotation for months in my car last year - its like candy for your ears. Viagra quick: the Rosebuds resurrect 80’s Brit pop with a little help from their friends the Shout Out Louds.

  • The Dangerous Book for Boys by Hal and Gonn Iggulden - This book can be found on many Best of 2007 lists and with good reason - its a beautifully nostalgic manual for adventurous souls, both boys and girls.Yet another one of my “I wish I’d thought of it first” titles!
  • Un Lun Dun by China Mieville - Un Lun Dun has a little bit of everything - quirky, endearing characters; mystery; adventure; fantastical lands and creatures plus wonderfully entertaining illustrations to accompany you throughout your read - viagra quick. Its the kind of book that makes you sad when you’re finished because whatever you read after it will not even remotely compare.
  • The Magical Life of Long Tack Sam By Ann Marie Fleming - This graphic novel adaptation of the movie Fleming made about her great-grandfather’s absolutely amazing life is quite possibly the best graphic memoir I’ve ever read - viagra quick. She successfully translates a film to print and the tale she tells is entertaining and awe inspiring.

Ordering Viagra

December 18, 2007 | posted by monica | filed under Music | Comment »

Sorry for the late post - this Monday found me off work and enjoying myself at Kuma’s Corner.  Best burgers (and mac and cheese) around.  No contest.

Generally speaking I’m a sucker for musicals, so I was expecting big things from Once when I saw it in the theater last June.  Despite high expectations, I was blown away.

If you don’t know, this movie was made on a shoestring budget and stars the frontman from the Irish band, The Frames, and Czech newcomer Marketa Irglova; ordering viagra. Both are musicians rather than actors, and they fell in love on set, sparking a completely unmanufactured onscreen chemistry - ordering viagra. Ordering viagra: in fact, nothing about this film feels manufactured - its all just so satisfying. The two of them also recorded a really beautiful album, The Swell Season, that features a lot of the songs on the Once soundtrack.

It’s understated, exquisitely romantic, and the music is hauntingly beautiful.I was so charmed that I went immediately to the Borders down the block to buy the soundtrack and I’ve been known to play it on repeat for hours like a 14 year old girl - ordering viagra.Of course ordering viagra, this is the kind of film that will play just as beautifully in your living room as it does on the big screen, so its exciting that its finally coming out on DVD today.

I can’t recommend this enough.  Its a standout film in a very good year for cinema.

The WGA strike in Hollywood is about to be watched closer than ever as we enter the pomp and circumstance that is the awards season, and everyone’s holding their breath to see what this new season will bring - pharmacy viagra. Without Bruce Villanch and crew to write witty banter for our biggest stars, what will this season’s Oscar celebration look like? Will we be subjected to even more shadow puppetry in an effort to entertain us? Will actors and directors even cross the picket lines to attend? Will there be an Oscars at all?

In the midst of all of this fear and uncertainty, the Golden Globes have decided to bravely soldier through and meet it all head on - pharmacy viagra. This morning pharmacy viagra, they announced nominations for the 65th Annual Golden Globe Awards, which will telecast on Sunday, January 13th, at 8 pm on NBC.

The Golden Globes and the Hollywood Foreign Press have never really taken themselves all that seriously, nearly always courting the films with the biggest star power in order to bring more glitz and viewership to their event. Honestly pharmacy viagra, what other awards show would give Sharon Stone a nomination for The Muse, after she sent all the voting members expensive Coach watches (they were later returned). However, despite any issues with the actual seriousness of this awards show, its come to be a way for some of the contenders to get a leg up in their own campaigns for Oscar gold.

This year’s list of nominees still had plenty of star power, but it is all about the dramas. The nominations included seven Best Motion Picture - Drama nominees, including four ultra-violent gangster pics (American Gangster, Eastern Promises, No Country For Old Men, There Will Be Blood) - pharmacy viagra. Its been a bloody year.

The other big trend appeared to be the her number of young actors nominated, featuring Ellen Page (Juno), Keira Knightly (Atonement), James McAvoy (Atonement), Nikki Blonsky (Hairspray), Amy Adams (Enchanted), and Ryan Gosling (Lars and the Real Girl) all receiving Best Performance noms.

Clear leaders this year are Atonement, based on the Ian McEwan novel of the same name, and musicals, which received three of the five nominations in the Best Motion Picture - Musical and Comedy category (Sweeney Todd, Hairspray, and Across the Universe); pharmacy viagra. And at the risk of sounding like a fangirl, no nominations for Once? It looks like that little-movie-that-could is facing a long road to its own dark horse chances at a Best Picture nomination.

For a whole list of this year’s nominations (including the television noms I shamefully neglected to mention) visit the official site here. And feel free to post your own reactions on our comments page.
